Tour De Yorkshire Waves
This is an image I shot at the Tour De Yorkshire in 2019. Or more precisely two images.
My two worlds of surfing and cycling collided.
In the days leading up to the 2019 Tour De Yorkshire I watched the surf forecast align with the race passing the coast, and knew that there could be chaos. I had to capture this.
As it happened, the race passed by with only normal levels of drama. Despite the sea threatening to encroach on the road.
It was purely a timing thing that meant I didn't get the shot I had envisioned (and have now created). Waves come in sets, and there was not a set as the peloton passed.
So, having shot a few images before the peloton passed, I merged them with some when the peloton passed, afterwards, in Photoshop.
The final image and the two that made it are below.

This is the shot I envisaged and hoped to get at the 2019 Tour De Yorkshire.
Unfortunately, it wasn't to be. The waves didn't align with the riders passing, so although this could easily have happened, it didn't.
I've posted the separate shots I merged to create this, in this gallery.TourYorkshireWavesBikeSportTDYTour De Yorkshire 2019cyclecycling
The Waves at the Tour De Yorkshire
As you can see from the motorcycle outrider, this shot wasn't too much before the peloton passed, so it could very easily have happened. But it didn't. So I just had to make it.
I won't tell anyone if you don't 😉TourYorkshireWavesBikeSportTDYTour De Yorkshire 2019cyclecycling
